Design Engineer III

What are the limits of innovation and exploration? How do we continue to evolve as a species?

SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Design Engineer III who will primarily be responsible for leading user centered design efforts, developing concepts, and building prototypes. A successful individual will mature the design process, conduct in-depth research, evaluate engineering needs, develop mockups, and perform user testing. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, proficient time management, and the ability to take initiative. This position will work on-site at our headquarters in Houston, Texas.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Architecture and Environmental Design, or related discipline

• 10+ years of professional design experience, aerospace experience preferred

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.


• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

• Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

 Physical Requirements

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

• Equipment and Machines

• Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).


• Strong Understanding of Human Factors and Ergonomics

• Ability to Conduct In-Depth Research and User Testing

• Keen Sense of Aesthetics (Color/Material/Finish)

• CAD Skills – Rhino, Solidworks, KeyShot, Blender

• Strong Presentation Skills

• Proficient Demonstration of Designs through Sketching, Rendering, and Modeling

• Proficient Use of Hand and Power Tools

• Knowledge of Materials, Fasteners, and Manufacturing Processes

• Operation of 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, Vinyl Cutters, and CNC Routers is a plus
