Power Electronics Engineer

Summary: This position will work on-site at our headquarters in Houston, Texas.  This position will be responsible for defining and executing the following engineering processes:

Duties and Responsibilities:

·           Work in a collaborative engineering team environment to produce power electronics and battery modules for a commercial human spaceflight module

·           Responsible for design, development, and testing of electrical equipment, components, and systems for human-rated spaceflight environment

·           Perform trade studies for technical solutions, including make/buy recommendations

·           Develop interface control documentation for connection to the International Space Station

·           DDT&E and operation of electrical power systems

·           Perform parametric sizing and determine optimal configurations for varying design inputs

·           Resolve problems encountered in testing and verification processes

Education & Experience

  • B.S. in Engineering required (graduate degree preferred) with a minimum of 20 years experience
  •       Success designing, developing, testing, and verifying human spaceflight electrical power systems
  •      Knowledge of electrical system wiring, harnessing, batteries/cells, photovoltaics, power conversion
  •      understanding of PCB layout, manufacturing, EEE parts selection and environmental qualifications



  •      Ability to apply mathematical and engineering principles/methods to electrical system designs
  •       Oral and written communication skills 
  •      Entrepreneurial mindset, eager to solve problems and identify original opportunities
  •      Shows commitment to inspiring others
  •      Eager and able to work in a collaborative and cross-disciplinary fashion in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-oriented environment
